What the French Ministry of Culture records
Fief mentionné pour la première fois en 1218. Sur les bases d'un moulin et d'un manoir qui lui est accolé, le manoir de Lonay est construit vers 1573-1575. Au cours des 17e et 18e siècles, diverses modifications et extensions sont apportées au manoir. Entre 1712-1715, le manoir est reconstruit et comprend une élévation à deux niveaux, et est accosté de deux pavillons saillants. Le manoir est doublé en profondeur par la création d'une façade sur jardin en pierre appareillée, largement percée. Vers 1740, extension à l'est de l'aile en rez-de-chaussée. En 1840, l'organisation définitive du château est constituée par la création d'un lavoir à arches de pierre, à l'emplacement de l'ancien colombier. Parc à l'anglaise avec une pièce d'eau rectangulaire. Au centre du parc, importante levée de terre représentant sans doute une ancienne motte castrale, car maçonnée à sa base. Au moment de l'aménagement du parc anglais dans les années 1830-1840, la motte est convertie en limaçon.
