To make a day of it

Château de la Prousterie stands in Avezé (Sarthe), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Standing on a hilltop above the Huisne valley in Avezé, the château de la Prousterie combines a manor house dating from the late 15th century with a rectangular tower added a hundred years later for the du Crochet family. The present facade results from building work carried out between 1780 and 1826 under Pierre-Charles Gondouin, who unified the composition and left behind the entrance gate dated 1802. An orangery and landscaped surroundings added in the 19th century complete an estate that passed through only a handful of families, from the du Crochets to the Goüins.
