To make a day of it

Château de la Tour stands in Neuville-sur-Ain (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The Château de la Tour stands in Neuville-sur-Ain, on a site occupied since the Middle Ages by a keep that the present building replaced in the late 19th century. Built for senator Étienne Goujon by architect Tony Ferret, it has four differently treated facades, ranging from an ornate classical porch to a sterner front topped by a tower. Inside, the original reception rooms survive, including a grand salon with stucco work and painted medallions, silk-hung walls and a paneled library. The park, partly reduced over time, still keeps its old entrance, an enclosing wall, a turret and a pond.
