To make a day of it

Château d'Ambronay stands in Ambronay (Ain), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Ambronay castle, also known as château de Blains, stands in the commune of Ambronay in the Ain department. Built in the 16th century and later restored in the 19th century by the Des Blains family, it retains a round tower on its southern side and a grand staircase leading to a reception hall upstairs. Since the commune purchased it in 1961, the building has served as the town hall.

Written from Château d'Ambronay

What to know

  • The castle now functions as the town hall, which limits visits to its public reception areas.
  • The interior cannot be toured like a typical heritage site since it houses municipal offices.
  • The facade and the round tower can be viewed from outside.
  • No visiting hours or fees are provided, as access depends on the town hall's opening times.
