What the French Ministry of Culture records

"Manoir à l'architecture caractéristique des châteaux cantaliens qui allient conception classique et utilisation de matériaux traditionnels locaux. Le fief est mentionné pour la première fois en 1379. L'édifice présente une structure médiévale (14e-15e siècle) , une chapelle du début du 17e, et un corps de logis réaménagé au 18e siècle après un incendie. A l'origine, le château se composait d'un donjon entouré d'une enceinte fortifiée (logis central et trois tours). Au début du 17e siècle, la chapelle fut ornée de peintures murales. Au 18e siècle, un incendie détruisit une grande partie du donjon qui perdit sa tourelle d'escalier circulaire en façade, et son couronnement de mâchicoulis. L'actuel avant-corps central, les percements, ainsi que les boiseries intérieures correspondent aux reconstructions de cette époque. Sous la Restauration, la chambre dite de "Madame" fut transformée en salon de compagnie et dotée du dessus de porte en papier peint."
