Standing on the banks of the Erdre in Nantes' Hauts-Pavés district, this chalet-style mansion replaced a hunting lodge that had stood there since 1440. The present building was commissioned by Georges Le Mesle in the mid-19th century and designed by architect Henri Parent, with twenty-two rooms spread over four floors. Its surrounding park still holds protected natural site status, though the château itself now houses the offices of the Nantes Academy and the rector's residence.
