Built in 1617 at Yerres, on the edge of the Grange woods, this château belongs to the family of Brie manor houses raised in brick and stone, surrounded by dry moats. Over the centuries it passed through the hands of royal physicians, a Marshal of France, Maurice de Saxe, and later the Gourgaud family of local notables, who owned it until 1990. Its grand gallery, gilded drawing room and a so called Louis XIII bedroom still bear witness to these successive periods. Since 2000 the estate has belonged to a private group running it as a hotel under the name château du Maréchal de Saxe.
