What the French Ministry of Culture records

Un domaine de la Garde existait déjà au Moyen Age, lequel tirait sa richesse du vignoble. L'édifice actuel fut construit au 17e siècle, achevé après 1650. Le corps de logis est allongé et flanqué de deux tours carrées au sud, et de deux tourelles en surplomb aux angles de la façade nord sur cour. Les cinq lucarnes du comble ainsi que la porte d'entrée, sont datées de 1610. La façade sur cour concentre le décor sculpté (frontons à acrotères, pilastres cannelés...). A l'angle nord-ouest de la cour intérieure, une fuie circulaire à fronton a conservé tout son système de boulins et échelle tournante.
