In Nersac, just outside Angoulême, the Château de la Foucaudie now houses the town hall. The building combines a 13th century curtain wall with additions from the 17th and 19th centuries, including four corner turrets, two round ones on the east side and two square ones on the west. The west front opens onto a terrace carried by arcades and reached by a double staircase, overlooking a courtyard laid out as a formal garden.
