Selon une légende, le Prince Noir habita Jovelle pendant la guerre de Cent ans. Charles VII y établit son quartier général pendant quatre mois. Du château, il ne reste que les remparts qui ferment la cour, une partie du donjon dont les créneaux ont été refaits, et la chapelle romane qui se dresse à pic. Dans la cour, présence d'un puits en pierre du 17e siècle. Des communs complètent l'ensemble.
