The château de Domecy-sur-le-Vault stands in the Yonne department, near Sermizelles, on a site documented since the fourteenth century. Its present appearance owes much to the rebuilding of the south wing carried out in the eighteenth century by the Denesvre family. Around 1900, Baron Robert de Domecy commissioned the painter Odilon Redon to create seventeen decorative panels for the dining room, most of which now belong to the Musée d'Orsay.
