What the French Ministry of Culture records

Une commanderie de l'ordre de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem fut fondée en 1192 sur un lieu templier. Rien ne subsiste du passé médiéval ou hospitalier de la commanderie. Du 18e siècle demeure un petit pavillon carré intégré dans un vaste parc avec parterres à la française et disposé devant un bassin avec allées plantées. Les quatre façades présentent la même ordonnance avec un décor sculpté de frises, guirlandes, fruits, fleurs, trophées, motifs de vénerie et halieutiques. Ce petit pavillon, qui annonce le goût des folies, reste un cas unique dans l'Yonne. Le château, de plan barlong, a été remanié. Le fronton de sa façade abrite un bas-relief en terre cuite apparenté à l'oeuvre de Clodion.
