To make a day of it

Château de Cordiron stands in Burgille (Doubs), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Located in the village of Burgille, in the Doubs department, the château de Cordiron still stands with its 13th century keep, one of the few remaining upright in the Franche-Comté region. First recorded in 1237, the site passed through several noble families before becoming a farm in the 19th century, a period during which it fell into disrepair. Since the early 2000s, restoration work has saved the square tower, the Renaissance dwelling and the spiral staircase. Visitors can also see traces of a former drawbridge in the enclosing wall that links the medieval keep to the 16th century residence.
