To make a day of it

Château de Moncley stands in Moncley (Doubs), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Overlooking the Ognon valley near Besançon, the Château de Moncley is a neoclassical residence built from 1778 for the Terrier-Santans family, who still own it today. Inside, some fifteen rooms hold period furniture and paintings, including a rotunda drawing room and a library that has kept its original wallpaper. The site once held a medieval stronghold belonging to the lords of Apremont, later replaced by a fortified castle that no longer stands.
