What the French Ministry of Culture records

Forteresse du seigneur de Déols, ayant appartenu en dernier lieu à Mademoiselle de Montpensier, cousine de Louis XIV. De la grosse tour partent des courtines, flanquées de trois tours à meurtrières plus petites. Elles rejoignent la porte d'entrée ogivale fermée par deux vantaux de chêne garnis de clous à têtes apparentes, encadrée par deux tourelles munies d'archères. Une rampe oblique y donnait accès et se terminait par une barbacane. Un mur intérieur devait clore, dans cette enceinte, une petite cour située entre le donjon, la chapelle et la maison seigneuriale. Celle-ci se composait d'un logis rectangulaire et d'une tourelle d'escalier.
