To make a day of it

Château de Chissey-en-Morvan stands in Chissey-en-Morvan (Saône-et-Loire), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Standing beside the Ternin river, apart from the village of Chissey-en-Morvan, this château combines the remains of a medieval stronghold with 18th century alterations. Of the four original corner towers, three round ones survive, alongside a massive square tower and two wings set at right angles. The moats that once surrounded the whole site, fed by the river, have been filled in, though the defensive outline remains visible from the inner courtyard.
