The château de Chémery stands in the centre of the village, ringed by moats still crossed by a former drawbridge leading to a fortified gate from the 15th century. Two building periods are visible in its structure: medieval remains from the 13th century on one side, and Renaissance wings reworked in the 16th century on the other. The estate remains privately owned and lived in, which explains why there is no formal visiting arrangement in the usual sense. Visitors mainly come for the exterior architecture, the enclosed courtyard and the outbuildings grouped around it.
