The ruins of the Château de Veuil overlook a village in the Berry region, close to Valençay, at the crossroads of Touraine and Sologne. The current structure dates from 1520-1530, built by Jean Hurault on the foundations of an earlier feudal castle from the 12th century, in a style inspired by the François I loggias at Blois. Partly demolished under the First Empire to supply stone for the nearby Château de Valençay, it still retains remains listed as a historic monument.
