Château de Chatelars stands in Meursac (Charente-Maritime), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
In Meursac, the château de Chatelars keeps the character of a small early Renaissance manor, still marked by a medieval spirit. The main building, topped with a steep roof, is flanked by a spiral stair tower and a large polygonal tower that give the structure its distinctive outline. The mullioned windows, arranged in aligned bays and crowned with ornate dormers, show the care given to the façade. Inside, a stone staircase covered by a ribbed vault leads to an upper room set within a turret.
