The château de Feusse stands in Saint-Just-Luzac, in the Charente-Maritime department, behind a pedimented gateway opening onto a courtyard lined with outbuildings. Built in the 17th century for a Protestant merchant and later transformed by a pastor who converted to Catholicism after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, it bears the marks of both periods in its architecture and decoration. Inside, the entrance hall and the adjoining salon preserve painted wood panelling dated 1699, showing Italianate landscapes, battle scenes and allegories in grisaille. A freestanding chapel, erected in the park in the early 18th century, completes the estate.
