To make a day of it

Château de Chamelet stands in Chamelet (Rhône), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

At the top of the village of Chamelet, in the Rhône department, the remains of a 13th century stronghold overlook the Azergues valley. The castle belonged to the lords of Beaujeu, who made it one of the seven strategic strongholds of the Beaujolais region, guarding this east west passage. What remains today is a square keep known as the Donjon des Sarrasins, a tower and sections of ramparts, close to the village church.
