The current building reflects centuries of alterations, from an eleventh-century tower through sixteenth-century defensive additions to garden layouts and interior decoration added in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Visitors come for the exterior architecture, the formal terraced gardens, and a few interior rooms decorated in an Italian style.
