What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'origine du château remonte au 8e siècle, due à sa position stratégique. Au 11e siècle, il est reconstruit. De plan trapézoïdal. Le corps principal, côté sud, constitue l'élément le plus robuste avec deux tours carrées aux angles. Dans cette partie se situent de grandes salles voûtées en berceau. Au premier étage, les pièces sont ornées de stucs et voûtées d'arêtes. La cage d'escalier a été placée au 18e siècle au nord de ce corps de bâtiment. La porte d'entrée est ornée d'un fronton curviligne au blason des deux familles. Les deux ailes en équerre, l'une à la perpendiculaire, l'autre en biseau, dateraient du 15e siècle et conservent une allure de forteresse.
