Perched on a slope above the Ciron valley, the ruins of Budos castle testify to the ambitions of a well-connected lord: Raymond Guilhem de Budos had this fortress built in the early 14th century, funded by his uncle, Pope Clement V. The rectangular enclosure, its round corner towers, deep moats and barbican follow the same design as the nearby castle of Villandraut. Caught up in the Hundred Years' War, the Wars of Religion and the Fronde, it was dismantled during the Revolution and long used as a stone quarry before a late rescue preserved what remains today.
