What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château du 16e siècle fut construit sur l'ancien château féodal par M. de la Marthonie, maître d'hôtel de François Ier. L'église, située à proximité de l'édifice, aurait été reliée à celui-ci par une galerie extérieure. Le corps de logis est encadré par deux constructions : la grosse tour carrée et l'aile qui la prolonge. L'aile eut sept arceaux en anse de panier, supportés par des colonnes. Ces arceaux ont été murés puis la muraille percée de baies à meneaux. Cela indiquerait qu'une galerie à l'italienne se trouvait là fin 15e - début 16e siècle. Le château conserve, à l'intérieur, au rez-de-chaussée, un plafond à solives, des boiseries et deux cheminées dont le linteau de pierre s'orne de peintures à fresques représentant des thèmes mythologiques.
