To make a day of it
Château de Bellevue stands in Saint-Avit (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Bellevue castle stands in Saint-Avit, in southern Charente, a few kilometres from Chalais. A carriage gate bears the date 1610, a trace of the residence first built by the L'Espinay family before passing to the Poncharral de Pouillac family for nearly two centuries. Threatened with collapse in the early twentieth century, the building was rebuilt almost identically in 1905, keeping its square tower with machicolations and the round turrets inherited from the earlier structure. Now run as a guesthouse, the property still looks like a manor of the Charente countryside.
