In La Chapelle-d'Angillon, in the Cher department, this château grew around a square keep dating from the 11th century, eventually forming a trapezoidal complex with a tower at each corner. Visitors can trace the successive building campaigns, from the gothic entrance and chapel commissioned by Marie d'Albret around 1470 to the terrace built for Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully, in the early 17th century. The furnished interiors, still lived in, house a museum devoted to writer Alain-Fournier and a collection brought back from Albania.
