Built in the 19th century to replace the former château de la Guichonnerie, owned by the Gaignault de Beaulieu family since 1771, it is best known for its 24-hectare landscaped park. These grounds were laid out by the landscape designer Paul de Lavenne de Choulot for Sophie de Villesaison, a descendant of the Gaignault family, who designed several hundred parks across France and Europe in the 19th century. The château remains private property today.
