Type de maison noble de Chalosse, établi sur un plateau dominant l'Adour, le château de Bachen occupe un site castral ancien. Siège d'une baronnie liée à un vaste domaine, il fut totalement reconstruit dans la seconde moitié du 18e siècle. L'ensemble se compose d'un logis qui, avec sa haute toiture, s'apparente à l'architecture béarnaise, et d'une aile basse de communs en retour d'équerre. Aux abords se trouvent également une ancienne dépendance agricole typiquement landaise et un chai.
