In La Jarne, in the Charente-Maritime region, the château de Buzay has stood since the late 18th century on land once belonging to the abbey of the same name. Built for the Harouard du Beignon family between 1771 and 1776, it retains its hipped dome, ionic-columned portico and interiors decorated with carved wood panelling. Visitors can also see a Louis XV style chapel and grounds laid out along classical French garden lines, with parterres inspired by Villandry.
