Château d'Apcher stands in Prunières (Lozère), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, fourth quarter of the 14th century). What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'un des premiers seigneurs d'Apcher, à la fin du 12e siècle, est un troubadour de renom, Garin, qui créé une forme poétique nouvelle : le "descors". En 1233, le château est cité pour la première fois. Le baron d'Apcher rendait hommage à l'évêque, comte du Gévaudan. La tour carrée fait partie de l'enceinte intérieure du château qui comprenait aussi trois tours circulaires, aujourd'hui réduites à leur base. Elle est en granit, à appareil moyen équarri. Elle est bâtie sur plan carré et présente à son sommet des mâchicoulis. La porte d'entrée, sittuée à l'est, s'ouvre à quelques mètres au-dessus du sol. L'église était également comprise dans cette enceinte. La façade principale est surmontée d'un clocher-peigne à deux arcatures. L'édifice se termine par une abside pentagonale. Dans l'élévation supérieure de l'abside, une arcature sur chaque côté du pentagone est soutenue par une colonnette à chapiteau. A l'intérieur, le choeur est surélevé par rapport à la nef.
