To make a day of it

Château Burrus stands in Grand Est (Haut-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines, in the Haut-Rhin, Château Burrus is the home that tobacco industrialist and patron Maurice Burrus had built in 1900. Its neo-baroque style, the work of Alsatian architects Jules Berninger and Gustave Krafft, shows itself mainly inside, around a wide colonnaded hall that leads to every room and floor. Visitors can see a green room lined with mirrors and topped by a ceiling painted with a cloudy sky, a red room covered in gilding and satin silk, and a room entirely finished in wood. Requisitioned during the Second World War, the building passed through several owners before being bought by private individuals in 2021.
