Standing near the Rocher des Doms and the Papal Palace in Avignon, this building began as a cardinal's residence before becoming the archbishops' palace. Built from the 14th century onward by Cardinal Arnaud de Via, nephew of Pope John XXII, it withstood the sieges of the Papal Palace and later served as a seminary before its conversion into a museum. Visitors can see medieval architecture arranged around an inner courtyard, a vaulted chapel and several towers, including the well tower.
