Standing above the village of Haut-de-Cagnes, this fourteenth-century fortress served as the residence of the Grimaldi family of Antibes for nearly five hundred years, before being turned into an Italian-style palace in the early seventeenth century. Visitors can see a triangular marble-arcaded patio, a double-flight staircase and the audience hall, whose ceiling bears a trompe-l'œil fresco depicting the fall of Phaeton. The building now houses a museum of modern art and a room devoted to the cabaret singer Suzy Solidor, including her portrait by Tamara de Lempicka.
