In the heart of Avignon, this fifteenth-century mansion grew out of a former tavern bought by the Florentine Pierre Baroncelli in 1469. The Baroncelli-Javon family, including the marquis Folco, turned it in the nineteenth century into a gathering place for the félibrige movement around Frédéric Mistral, who gave the building its present name. Rescued from decay in 1918 by Jeanne de Flandreysy, it now houses a museum devoted to the history and social life of the region.
