What the French Ministry of Culture records
Les tours féodales flanquaient les angles d'un château bâti par Henri II Plantagenêt en 1160. Les tours nord et sud datent du troisième quart du 12e siècle, tandis que l'ancien palais est des 16e et 18e siècles. Le bâtiment nord, du 16e siècle, était l'ancienne habitation des gouverneurs de Tours. Le bâtiment ouest, du 18e siècle, bâti entre les deux tours, devait lui servir d'annexe.
