What the French Ministry of Culture records

Tours connut, au 18e siècle, une certaine prospérité qui se manifesta par la construction de grands ensembles dans la ville et plusieurs demeures aux environs immédiats. Cette maison est l'une d'elles, construite par Audebert Cartier, menuisier du duc de Choiseul, au milieu d'une closerie antérieure à l'édifice. La gentilhommière, type parfait de la villa du 18e siècle, a l'aspect d'une "folie" Louis XV. La façade sud est encadrée de deux petits corps de bâtiments latéraux plus bas. Un fronton en tympan, orné d'un oeil de boeuf, et quatre lucarnes éclairent le premier étage. Le rez-de-chaussée compte cinq pièces en enfilade. Les boiseries sont d'époque. A l'extérieur, une grille subsiste, encadrée de deux piliers aux corbeilles de fruits, et précède ce qui reste de trois cabinets de verdure en charmille. Au sud-est se trouve la chapelle.
