At Bubry, in the Morbihan, an earthen mound and its adjoining enclosure mark the location of a former medieval stronghold. The mound, around ten metres high, once served as the seat of the lordship of Kernivinien and still retains its surrounding ditch, while the adjacent bailey preserves traces of its defensive earthworks. This is not a restored castle but an open-air archaeological site, where the visitor's imagination must make up for the absence of standing buildings.
