What the French Ministry of Culture records

A partir d'une construction préexistante du 16e siècle, le marquis de Laborde aménagea le domaine de Méréville de 1784 à 1794 avec le concours des plus grands artistes de l'époque : Bélanger, Hubert Robert, Augustin Pajou, Jospeh Vernet, Greuze ... pour en faire le plus beau parc à l'anglaise d'Europe continentale. La colonne Trajane a été édifiée pendant le quatrième quart du 18e siècle par J. André. Les fabriques ont été très restaurées. Certaines fabriques ont été transférées dans le parc du château de Jeurre à Morigny-Champigny (Essonne). A l'intérieur du château, l'essentiel des aménagements subsiste, ainsi qu'une partie des décors : marbre jaune, glaces, lambris d'acajou, cheminées, ...
