La reconstruction du château au début du 18e siècle est attribuée à René II Choppin, lieutenant criminel au Châtelet de Paris. De profonds remaniements y sont apportés vers 1780. A la suite d'un incendie en 1848, l'avant-corps fut restauré et renforcé par un large balcon porté par une colonnade.
