The Zentralmessepalast stands at the corner of Grimmaische Straße and Neumarkt in central Leipzig. Built in the early 20th century, this commercial building long served as a trade fair house for the city before undergoing a complete interior reconstruction in the late 1990s. Only the historic façade survives, decorated with elaborate sculpture and topped by a scrolled gable bearing a lion, the heraldic animal of Leipzig. The building now houses the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum, a museum devoted to contemporary German history.
