The Wohnturm Berneburg is a medieval residential tower standing in the hamlet of Berneburg, a part of the town of Sontra. Built shortly before or after 1385 to replace an earlier family stronghold whose site was never located, it served as a fortified dwelling for the lords of Berneburg and their successors before losing its defensive role in the 17th century and becoming part of a farmstead. Rising about fifteen metres over five storeys, it has walls roughly 1.5 metres thick at the base and paired window openings under a hipped roof on its top floor. It now forms a corner with a timber-framed house dating from the 1650s, while the former moat survives only as a faint trace in the ground between the property and the Sontra stream.
