Its keep, the oldest surviving part, dates back to the 11th century, while the present main building was rebuilt around 1700 following the destruction of the earlier stronghold in 1444. The complex, with its continuous wall walk and enclosed inner courtyard, still reads as a compact moated fortification. Since 2009 it has been privately owned by an art dealer who keeps a weapons collection there, and the building is not open to visitors.
