The Wasserburg Schönhof, in Frankfurt-Innenstadt II, is the name given today to a building complex that succeeded a moated castle of which nothing remains to be seen. First recorded in the early Middle Ages as Bochinheim, the estate passed from the knights of Praunheim to a banker ennobled in the 18th century, and then to a Hessian minister who had the manor house rebuilt in the early 19th century. What survives today is that baroque manor house, restored after wartime destruction, now housing a Greek restaurant with its beer garden, next to a municipal music hall.
