In Klüsserath, on the bank of the Moselle, the Wasserburg Klüsserath stands on the site of a former moated castle whose origins go back to the 12th century. Its position allowed control of the narrow riverside passage the Moselle valley forms here against the hillside. The present rectangular building of unrendered rubble stone rises four storeys on the river side and three on the hill side, and keeps a much older vaulted cellar below. The property is privately owned and now houses a winery with its own tavern.
