To make a day of it
Schloss Weyberhöfe stands in Sailauf (Landkreis Aschaffenburg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Weyberhöfe stands at Sailauf in Bavaria, on a hunting site whose history goes back to the 13th century. The first structure, a castrum vivarum built in 1265 by Werner von Eppstein, was destroyed during the Margrave War and rebuilt in 1557 under Elector Daniel Brendel von Homburg, one of four hunting lodges raised in the Spessart by the Electors of Mainz. The present building, with its gabled roof and stepped gables, dates from the 16th century and was reshaped over the following centuries, notably under the von Cancrin family in the early 20th century. It now houses a hotel, so visiting the building itself depends on that operation.
What to know
- The building currently operates as a hotel, so viewing the monument itself is largely limited to its exterior and surroundings.
- The site lies at the edge of the Spessart forest, along the Laufach stream, within a parkland setting.
- No visiting hours or admission fees are set, as this is not a monument open to the public in the usual sense.
- The building is still recognisable by its gabled roof and stepped gables, typical of the 16th century.
