To make a day of it
Schloss Schönfeld stands in Schönfeld (Landkreis Meißen), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Schönfeld stands on the site of a medieval moated castle first documented in the 13th century, shaped over the centuries by a succession of noble owners. Most of the buildings seen today date from the years 1560 to 1590, though the whole complex was substantially remodelled between 1882 and 1884 in Neo-Renaissance style under architect Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel, for Maximilian Dathe von Burgk. An English landscape park of 6.4 hectares, laid out in the late 19th century, surrounds the buildings and makes the site one of Saxony's notable Neo-Renaissance ensembles.
