It was built in the 16th century by the lords of Prant above the manorial mill, and after their line died out soon afterward, the estate passed through several owners before being extended in the 17th and 18th centuries; its park dates from the 19th century. The building later served as a spa clinic and then housed a public indoor pool, which closed in 2013 due to the risk of collapse.
