To make a day of it

Burgstall Neuburg stands in Feldkirchen-Westerham (Landkreis Rosenheim), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burgstall Neuburg marks the remains of a vanished medieval stronghold, set on a spur of the Irschenberg rising to 600 meters, southeast of the village of Vagen. Built probably in the 12th century by the counts of Neuburg-Falkenstein, it served as one of the family's four main seats and is where the Codex Falkensteinensis, a significant medieval manuscript, was produced. Destroyed around 1247, the site later passed through several lesser noble families before falling into ruin. Only traces of the former moat remain today, as the stones were reused in the 17th century for the pilgrimage church of Weihenlinden.
