Schloss Meseberg stands in Gransee, in the Landkreis Oberhavel, in Brandenburg, on the shore of the Huwenowsee lake, roughly seventy kilometres north of Berlin. Since the early 2000s this baroque residence has served as the German federal government's guest house, hosting cabinet meetings and foreign heads of state. The building remains closed to the public for most of the year, its official role taking precedence over any touristic use. A park surrounds the château, reaching down to the lakeshore.
